The
Banners:
The church’s liturgical year is made up of six major seasons -
Advent (purple), Christmas (gold or
white), Lent (purple), Easter Day (gold or white), Pentecost (red),
and The Green Season.
A
number of single Sunday celebrations fall within the major seasons -
these include The Annunciation of the Lord, The Baptism of Jesus,
Ascension Day, Trinity Sunday, All Saints Day and Christ the King.
Each
of these is for one Sunday only and the colour of each is white.
This poses the question “How many white banners do we really need
or 'want'?
Our
white banner is designed to include several of these celebrations
– they include The Baptism of Jesus, The rising sun depicting
Christ’s resurrection, and the ascending figure of Christ on
Ascension Sunday.
Taken
as a whole this banner depicts the beginning, the climax and the end
of Christ’s ministry on earth.
